The basics of an ROI calculation
The payback period of a mezzanine floor is determined by three factors:
- The investment: on average between €90 and €200 per m², depending on load class, finish and complexity
- The monthly savings: for example lower rental or transport costs
- The payback period: calculated by dividing the investment by the monthly savings
Example: a 200 m² floor at €140/m² costs approximately €28,000. If you save €2,000 per month on external storage, you recover the investment in 14 months.
Case studies: saving up to €3,500 per month
Many companies have already taken this step. Some examples of sectors where we have saved space include:
E-commerce: more picking space and higher speed
An online store with rapid growth installed a mezzanine floor above bulk storage. The result: three extra picking lines and 40% faster order processing. With a monthly saving of €3,500 the investment was recovered in 10 months.
Production: extra assembly without relocation
A production company lacked space for manual assembly. By installing a 150 m² floor, output increased without moving costs of €25,000. The investment was recovered within a year.
Logistics: saving on new construction
A logistics service provider wanted to expand but avoided new construction by installing a 600 m² floor for seasonal stock. With a saving of €5,000 per month, the ROI was achieved within 18 months.
